Fire Up An ATV For Green Mountains Adventure

Summer in the Green Mountain National Forest makes for picturesque scenery.

Add in an all terrain vehicle, and you’ve got a summer adventure. That’s where Stratton Adventures in Stratton Mountain, Vt., comes in. A Stratton ATV tour begins with a lesson on the “quad” that everyone passes. From there, the 90 minute tour continues to gain traction.

“This is the most fun you can have getting to the top of the mountain,” said Steve Brown, the owner of Stratton Adventures.

After a quick safety briefing and some instruction, with 500 CCs of power at your fingertips, the ascent begins.

“We have some beautiful views. We catch some different sides of the mountain,” said Chief Guide Julie Moore.  “Most of our guests have never been on an ATV before so it’s a completely new experience.”

Riders reach about 4,000 feet above sea level at the top of Stratton Mountain – a 2,000 foot climb from the base area.

Stratton Adventures runs its tours seven days a week. The tour lasts about 90 minutes and costs $100 for the driver and $40 to ride along. Other packages are available. Kids are welcome to ride as passengers, but you have to be 16 or older with a valid license to drive. To find out more, click here to visit Stratton Adventures’ website.
