West Haven Police Arrest Bridgeport Man On Assault Charges

West Haven Police arrested a man after was accused of assaulting a victim and threatening a child.

Del Pettway, 37, was arrested in relations to an incident that occurred on Wednesday where police said he repeatedly assaulted his victim.  The victim was kicked, choked and struck several times, and cut with a knife.

Police said Pettway also grabbed the victim’s child during this assault and threatened to harm the child with a knife. They said Pettway took the victim’s car and fled. Police found in Bridgeport and arrested him after a short chase.

Pettway has a criminal history, police said. He is charged with five counts of violating a protective order, risk of injury to a child, second degree assault, second degree threatening, second degree strangulation, and disorderly conduct. He is scheduled to appear in Milford court today.
