UPDATE 3: The State Police has released more information on the crash and the condition of the victims. All four victims are listed as in critical condition at Hartford Hospital. The car was a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire. It was traveling in the left lane before veering into the left grass shoulder. It then crossed all lanes moving right, went through a metal guardrail, and down an embankment.  The  car then overturned and came to a stop. All four of the people who were in the car are from Massachusetts. I-84 was reopened fully at 1:48 p.m.

UPDATE 2: The Hartford Courant is reporting two lanes are now open, but traffic is still moving slow.

UPDATE: Three passengers in the vehicle were ejected, and four total were injured. Two are listed as in critical condition. All have been taken to Hartford Hospital. Two victims were flown to the hospital by LifeStar. The other two were taken by ambulance. There is no ID yet on the vehicle’s make or model. The State Police Department is investigating the crash, and has not yet determined a cause. There is some road damage from the accident, and I-84 eastbound will remain closed for some time.

Several people were injured in a single vehicle accident in Tolland Thursday morning.

According to Connecticut State Police, the accident happened near exit 68 eastbound on Interstate 84. Reports from Fox CT photographer Al Chaniewski said there was a large area of debris.

Traffic was backed up for about five miles. There were six fire trucks at the scene.

The Hartford Courant has confirmed that three passengers were ejected from the car. Lifestar was called to the scene. Ambulance Service of Manchester dispatched three Paramedic ambulances as well.
