New Britain Rock Cats Drop 1st Of Four-Game Series To Reading Fightin Phils, 5-3

Rock Cats and the Redding Fighting Phils in New Britain for the first of a four game series.
Bottom of the first Eastern League All Star Reynaldo Rodriguez sends a laser into center. Just out of reach of the diving outfielder. That brings Aaron Hicks home Rock Cats lead 1-0 and Rodriguez gets the stand up double.
Now top of the fifth Redding leads 3-2 with runners at first and second. Naugatuck native Pat Dean on the mound and puts an end to any though of adding to the lead.
And good thing he did bottom of the inning Eddie Rosario sends a blast to center field. It goes off the Nissian sign. Rosario doesn’t win a car but does get the game tieing home run.
But the comeback was short lived top of the sixth Carlos Alonso drops one in to shallow left field Raywilly Gomez hustles home Redding goes up 4-3 and goes on to win 5-3.
