Connecticut roads are the worst in the country, and that is not a local complaint: it is from the White House.

A report from the Obama administration highlights each state’s deficient roads and highways. Connecticut  tied with Rhode Island for the worst.

If the Federal Highway Trust Fund isn’t funded and backed by lawmakers then roads could get worse and jobs could be lost.

In Connecticut 41 percent of the state’s 21,000 miles of public roads are in poor condition, and 30 percent of the 4,200 bridges are labeled structurally deficient and need upgrades.

This could also effect 9,600 jobs in the state.

Democrats and Republicans are both finding themselves in a tough place.  Republicans don’t want to raise the gas tax, which is the main source of money for the Federal Highway Trust Fund. Democrats are following suit with President Obama and want a more permanent fix.
