Dunkin’ Donuts Robbery Suspect Arrested

A man attempted to rob a Dunkin’ Donuts in Norwich this morning, claiming he had a gun.

The Norwich Police Department said in a press release that the man claimed he had a gun, though it was covered by his clothing. He took cash from the restaurant.

Police caught the suspect, Christopher J. Staplings, 33, not long after the robbery.

Staplings, who is a Norwich resident, was charged with robbery in the first degree, larceny in the sixth degree, criminal attempt at robbery in the third degree, and criminal attempt at larceny in the sixth degree.

He is a convicted felon and has a long criminal record. He is being held on $250,000 bond and will be arraigned today.
