Afternoon update: The forecast is still on track from this morning, but here’s a closer look at what we’re expecting today.

It’s a very humid day, and there is some scattered sunshine across the state. That, coupled with the fact that there are very strong winds aloft, are leading to a severe thunderstorm chance in parts of Connecticut today. Western areas have the greatest chance for any strong to severe storms.

The main concern is still flooding. There’s a Flash Flood Watch in effect until Wednesday, and we’ve already seen some pockets of flooding across the state. Cities like Bridgeport and New Haven saw road closures Monday night due to flash flooding. Some of the downpours later today could drop a quick inch or two of rain in a localized area.

It looks like the cool front that we’ve been watching will slow down a bit as we go on for Wednesday. This means the rain may hold on for much of the day.

Forecast Details:

Tonight: More intermittent downpours. Localized flooding possible. Lows: 68-73.

Wednesday: Heavy rain during the morning hours, tapering off in the afternoon. Some clearing possible by the end of the day. Highs around 80.

Thursday: Pleasant, with sunshine and low humidity. Highs: 75-80.

Friday: Mostly sunny, nice! Highs around 80.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, pleasant. Highs in the 80s.
