Governor Malloy gave the green light to funding for a new Metro North train station in Bridgeport’s East end Wednesday.

Malloy, the chair of the State Bond Commission will instruct the Commission to approve $2.75 million for the project at their July 25 meeting.

The train station will be built on Barnum Avenue, near the old Remington Arms factory. The project will stimulate economic development in a downtrodden area of the city, Malloy and other local leaders said. Residents appear to be “all aboard”.

“Bridgeport has a lot of potential and why not utilize the space that they have to make it even better,” resident Andrea Emery said.

The project is currently scheduled to finish in the fall of 2018.
