Firefighters battled a fire at a home on Intervale Road in Burlington from Thursday night into Friday morning.

The fire started at around 10:00 p.m. Thursday.

The house sustained significant damage.

Firefighters were forced to pull out of the home because of a lack of water.

Chief Andrew Mercieri told Fox CT, “Unfortunately the problem we have in this town is we do not have many pressurized hydrants, so once we ran out of water we had to pull our guys out until we were able to reestablish water supply.”

Firefighters from several other towns–including Torrington, Canaan and Bristol–responded with tankers of water.

Everyone was able to get out of the house without injury.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
