UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Donna Starzecki, a Shelton resident. She was 51. The accident occurred just outside of Mike’s Famous Harley Davidson, and the incident is still under investigation.
A motorcyclist died in an accident Saturday afternoon.
The New London Police Department reports that a 52-year-old female operator of the motorcycle was exiting a business located at 951 Bank Street in New London and turning right to head westbound when she crashed into a commercial box truck. The accident occurred at approximately 1:14 p.m.
An initial police investigation shows that she likely crossed the double yellow line before hitting the truck.
The woman was transported to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital via ambulance and was pronounced dead at 1:29 p.m. She was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Bank Street was closed for several hours this afternoon into the evening between Carroll Court and Beckwith Street.
