Fire Destroys Multi Family Home In Hartford

HARTFORD– An overnight fire destroyed five apartment units Tuesday morning and left nine people  without a home.

Around 2 a.m. a call came in from a multi-unit home on Wethersfield Ave. The tenants were able to get out but their belongings are gone.

Firefighters knocked down the flames quickly.

Officials said the rear porch made of wood and the fire started there, moved to the third floor. It then extended down into second level and up to the roof.  Residents were being relocated help with the Red Cross. around a dozen people were displaced.

Officials said the management company and building inspector were securing the building which suffered water and smoke damage. It will be boarded up.

They said the cause under investigation.
