An elderly woman was robbed today at a Stop & Shop in Watertown.
The woman was getting a shopping cart while entering the store, located at 763 Straits Turnpike, when a man grabbed her purse–described as a black “Sak” pocketbook with a wallet and undisclosed amount of cash inside–pushed her to the ground, and then fled in a car. She was not injured.
The police determined that the suspect later went to the Stop & Shop location on Reidville Drive in Waterbury and attempted to use the victim’s checks.
The man is described as a white male, aged 25 to 35. He had a brown goatee and was last seen wearing a Detroit Tigers baseball cap with a “D” on it, a black tee shirt with flames, blue and white plaid shorts and sneakers.
The car the suspect fled in is described as a black, newer model Nissan, either an Altima or a Maxima.
