URGENT – FAA US Israel Flight Ban

(CNN) — The Federal Aviation Administration has extended its ban on U.S. airlines’ flights to and from Tel Aviv, Israel, for another 24 hours. The ban now runs through 12:15 p.m. ET Thursday, the FAA says.

(CNN) — U.S. Airways will resume flights to Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport on Thursday if the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration approves, the airline told CNN Wednesday. German airline Lufthansa, meanwhile, said that “based on an analysis of presently available information,” it will continue to suspend flights on Thursday.

The former mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, released a statement this morning about his decision to fly on El Al airlines to Ben Gurion International Airport despite the Federal Aviation Administration’s prohibition for U.S. airlines to do so.

“This evening I will be flying on El Al to Tel Aviv to show solidarity with the Israeli people and to demonstrate that it is safe to fly in and out of Israel.”
