UPDATE: Detective Commander Lt. John Varone from the Groton Police Department says the two individuals who were arrested–Ambiorix Rondon and Maria Rondon–are married, but are not the mother and father of the victim, though they are related to the child.

Responding officers and witnesses said the child was very hot, but was responsive and conscious.

The Groton Town Police responded to reports of a minor left unattended in a hot car this afternoon.

Police were dispatched to a shopping center located at 664 Long Hill Rd. An 8-year-old child was found in the car, which had two windows partially open.

Officers determined that the child was in the car for approximately 45 minutes, and that the temperature in the car ranged form 103 degrees to 114 degrees.

The child did not need medical treatment.

Two individuals were arrested as a result of the investigation. Ambiorix Rondon, 61, and Maria Rondon, 53, both New London residents who live in the same apartment, were charged with risk of injury to a minor and unattended child in a motor vehicle.

Both Rondons were released on $2,500 bonds and are due in court on August 8.
