A number of batteries were stolen from school buses at a bus yard in New Haven Sunday Night.

Officers responded to the First Student Bus Company bus yard, located at 170 Middletown Avenue, at approximately 9 p.m.

It was originally believed that 20 batteries were stolen, but the department’s media liaison, David Hartman, said that number is now believed to be five or six.

Detectives from the department’s robbery and burglary division are investigating the theft and are trying to determine if area surveillance video picked up any images of the thieves.

The batteries cost approximately $200 each.
