Wikipedia Bans Congress

Wikipedia has decided the issue a 10-day ban on the House of Representatives IP address after a string of bizarre edits that were deemed disruptive kept popping up. A twitter-bot was created earlier this month in a effort to track the changes that were coming out of congress and the findings that have surfaced are downright bizarre. Some changes include an anonymous user from the House editing the page for “moon landing conspiracy theories” to say the Cuban government was behind spreading rumors that 1969’s moon landing was a hoax.  Former pentagon leader Donald Rumsfeld’s page was also altered, calling Rumsfeld  an “alien lizard who eats Mexican babies”.

The ban only affects one IP address within the House and at this point it’s unclear how many staffers that could affect.  The user could be anyone working within the House of Representatives- staff member of elected official.
