UNITED NATIONS — According to The New York Times, the secretary general for the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, told reporters today that “all available evidence” shows that Israel was to blame in the attack of a United Nations school in Gaza that killed many civilians.

The Times article reports that the secretary general told reporters in San Jose, Costa Rica that, “Nothing is more shameful than attacking sleeping children.” The Times also reports that U.N. official said they had notified Israel that civilians were sheltered in the school and had told Israel the location of the school 17 times.

It was also pointed out that the Geneva Convention specifically prohibits attacking schools and hospitals.
