The teen accused of stabbing and killing Maren Sanchez inside Jonathan Law High School is expected in Milford Superior Court today.

Christopher Plaskon, 17, will likely make his last court appearance before his trial. His trial is not expected until fall.

In June Plaskon pleaded not guilty and waived his right to a probable cause hearing. His lawyers requested a trial before a three judge panel instead of a jury.

Police said Plaskon stabbed Sanchez in a hallway of the high school in her chest, face, and body in late April, hours before the junior prom.

The attorney for the family Anthony Bonadies, talked to Maren’s father Jose Sanchez, who she visited in Miami weeks before her death.

“Losing a child is the deepest of all losses that is what Mr. Sanchez is enduring with the loss of Maren. Anyone who knows Maren knows she was special, full of love and life.

Jose will be a part of the process for justice to assure that all those that play a part in this process know the magnitude of the loss to Jose and everyone when Maren was taken. ”

When last in court, Plaskon’s lawyers said they are looking into the option of an insanity defense.  Plaskon has been kept in a youth institute in Cheshire, he is no longer on suicide watch but is on a long list of medications and has been on constant watch.
