School Bans Cupcakes To Crack Down On Obesity

Families in Edmunds School District, a suburb of Seattle, Washington,  were recently informed that they can no longer bring birthday treats to school.  Cupcakes and other celebratory treats are being replaced with more school appropriate alternatives like stickers and pencils.  Inspired by a federal wellness policy, the district says decreasing kids sugar intake is a healthy step in the right direction.
