The textile industry is re-materializing in Stafford Springs.

The looms and other machines at the historic Warren Mill are being primed and prepped to manufacture fine wool fabric.

The mill had been dormant for about six months after Loro Piana shut down operations.

American Woolen has already hired back 21 of the workers who were laid off, and the company hopes to gradually increase the workforce.

"I don't think they would invest what they invested on something that wouldn't work, and I think this is going to work, that's why I came back," rehired mill worker, Dave Middleton, said.

Congressman Joe Courtney, who toured the mill, said now that the looms are working again the mill should be eligible for assistance through the U.S. Department Of Commerce and its Wool Apparel Manufacturers Trust Fund.
