HEBRON -- New court documents are shedding light on a tragedy that happened back in mid-March when a car struck a RHAM Middle School math teacher during the morning drop-off hour.

The accident happened on March 14. Elizabeth Everett, 50, allegedly drove her Honda Pilot into a lane designated for bus drop-offs.

Upon discovering the mistake, police say she immediately threw the vehicle into reverse to get out, heard a thud,  and emerged from her car to see 65-year-old Dawn Mallory, a RHAM Middle School teacher, laying on the ground unconscious.

The arrest warrant says Everett's car was going at least 14 miles per hour but was operating normally and even had a working back up camera.

Troopers say they smelled alcohol on Everett's breath, and, after she consented to a blood alcohol test, the results came back positive. Police say everett tested a 0.07 blood alcohol level that morning, just below the state legal limit of 0.08.
