Two Suspects In Westport Bank Robbery Arrested

Police arrested two suspects in a Westport bank robbery Tuesday morning.

Lt. Paul Resnick, spokesman for the Norwalk Police, tweeted that the suspects were arrested.

The incident happened just before 10 a.m. When police tried to stop a vehicle matching the description of that seen fleeing the scene, a pursuit began. The car  then crashed into at least 2 other cars near Wilton Road on the Merritt Parkway. The suspects ran into the woods, police said in a statement.

Lt. Resnick also said three Norwalk K9 Units were involved in the search.

Carmello DeKane, 30, and Jermaine Cowan, 35, both of New Haven, were taken into custody without incident. Police said the two men are suspects in the robbery of the TD Bank branch on 1111 Post Road East  in Westport .

They are due in Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 27.
