A truck driver has been charged with drunk driving after a deadly crash in New Haven Sunday.

Police say a car and truck collided early Sunday morning around Long Warf Drive near the I-95 exit ramp.

Olvin Cruz, 20, of New Haven was thrown from the car and later pronounced dead, police said.

Ninoska Roman, 19, had to be rescued from the car and is in critical condition, police said Monday morning. The driver, John Rodriguez, 29, is expected to be okay.

A short time into the investigation, a woman came forward to report a white Toyota Rav 4 had been involved with the accident. Officers located the driver and determined he was intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with DUI.

Investigators are still working to confirm the Rav 4 and it’s operator were involved in the deadly accident.
