Grief counselors will be on hand at Sacred Heart University as the fall semester starts and the community is grieving a student who died over the weekend.

Kaitlyn Doorhy, 20, was hit by a car Friday night in Bridgeport and died a day later.  Doorhy was crossing the street with a friend, when a car swerved to avoid hitting her friend, and hit her.

Students, faculty and staff can visit the school's wellness center for counseling starting Monday.   The University said it will plan a memorial mass for Doorhy this week as well.

Doorhy was a member of Kappa Delta, an alto Saxaphone player and an aspiring lawyer. According to her family, her gift of life will be carried on, her organ will be donated to help save the lives of others.

The driver of the car does not face any charges at this time and police said the crash is still under investigation.
