An 88-year-old woman who lives on Brinsmade Road in Hamden was attacked by a raccoon last night around 11 p.m. when she opened her door to let her cat in and the raccoon followed it inside.

She tried to pet what she thought was her cat, but it was the raccoon, and it bit her elbow, hand, forearm and face. She doesn't remember exactly what happened, and didn't want her face filmed because of injuries.

Police euthanized the raccoon, and now it's being tested for rabies and other diseases at the Connecticut Public Health Lab.
