Water is back on Wednesday morning, after a water main broke on Park Ave in Bloomfield, water company officials told FOX-CT.

Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) crews confirm a 12 inch water main broke on Park Avenue in Bloomfield Tuesday. The company shut water service off at 7:50 p.m. on Park Drive from Revere Drive to opposite 321 Park Ave.

MDC said water was to be restored by 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.

"Once service is restored, customers in the affected area may experience slight discoloration or cloudiness in the water," said Kerry Martin, an official for MDC.  "This is a normal occurrence after a water main break and it is recommended that customers run the cold water in the tub/shower until it runs clear."

This area includes 31 residential homes, the Bloomfield Convalescent Home, the Carmen Arace Middle School and the New Testament Church.

The water main that broke was installed in 1933.

Park Avenue (Route 178) was closed between Crestview Drive and Tyler Street because of the situation, Connecticut Department of Transpotation officials said.
