The East Central Narcotics Taskforce seized nearly 140 pounds of marijuana Thursday in three separate locations. They conducted surveillance of a suspected drug operation in South Windsor.

Officers say they watched Stuart Klotzer, 54, leave a wooded area off of Niederwerfer road and get in his 2000 Toyota Camry. Members of the taskforce followed Klotzer into Ellington, where they made a traffic stop with help from state police.

After an investigation, officers found 8 pounds of marijuana inside a passenger compartment. As part of their surveillance, they then went back to the wooded area off of Niederwerfer road and recovered 69.5 pounds of marijuana.

Taskforce officers searched Klotzer's 42 Patten Road home in Stafford. Inside they said they seized 60 more pounds of marijuana. The total amount has an estimated street value of $348,750.

The 54-year-old Stafford man is charged with possession of more than four ounces of marijuana, cultivation of marijuana, operating a drug factory and possession of marijuana with intent to sell. Officers have not indicated when when Klotzer will be in court.
