Sun and clouds will provide a comfortable Saturday before scattered thunderstorms come into the picture late Sunday and Monday with increasing heat and humidity
The summer of 2014 will go down in the record books as one of the nicest summers in years. Temperatures were near normal, with low humidity and just a few 90-degree days. There were many nights when we were able to open the windows and turn off the air conditioners when lows were in the cool 50s and daytime highs were in the 80s.
Most of the weekends were also beautiful, with plenty of nice sunny Saturdays and Sundays.
Our beautiful summer weather pattern will continue to start off the Labor Day weekend. However, a big pattern change is about to commence for the second half of the holiday weekend as the sub-tropical ridge of high pressure--which has been absent through most of this summer--will make an appearance with a very warm and humid tropical air-mass. The upper level ridge of high pressure will push northward this weekend, which will induce a warm front to spawn a few scattered thunderstorms late Sunday into early Monday.
Even with the clouds and potential thunderstorm activity, it will not be a complete washout as there will be some hazy sun and very warm temperatures. In fact, when you take into account the high humidity and daytime highs well into the 80’s, it will feel like it's 90 or higher by Labor Day.
The sub-tropical ridge of high pressure will not only dominate our weather well into next week, but it will also impact most of the central and southern half of the nation.
Our summer September weather pattern will be more in line with July rather than September. Don’t put the beachwear away yet!
