An anonymous benefactor descended upon Hartford Friday morning, teasing Twitter with the promise of free money.

Dr. Cash, as he's called, first tweeted from the handle @drcashct on August 26 saying, "I'm giving out cash all Labor Day weekend in Hartford! Who wants it?"

Over the following days Dr. Cash spread the word to local Twitter users, including FOX CT's Erika Arias and Beau Berman, encouraging people to "follow for the dough."

At 6:36 a.m. the "Doctor" tweeted out his first clue, a photo of the Capitol Region Education Council headquarters at 111 Charter Oak Avenue.

By 7:01 a.m., Dr. Cash had his winner, a man identified by the generous twitter account as "Joe White," who apparently walked away with $50.

More free money is expected to be given away by Dr. Cash.

FOX CT reached out to the "Doctor" on Twitter asking for comment, and the mystery tweeter responded: "What's better than giving back to the people? Work hard, you should be rewarded."

The second giveaway was scheduled for noon. Several people made their way to "the oldest park in Hartford" searching for the "Doctor."

Before the clock struck 12 the second winner had closed in on the winnings, walking away with $100.

Linda said she'll use the money for her daughter's Sweet 16 birthday party.

Five hours later, winner number three found $50 down by the riverfront.

Saturday brought Dr. Cash to the Mark Twain House.
