Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay made a pit stop at Connecticut's oldest inn to film tonight's episode of "Hotel Hell." When he arrived at the historic location he complimented the area.
"First of all, I'm in love with Connecticut. What an amazing part of the country--stunning," Ramsay said.
Unfortunately, that's where the compliments ended for the Curtis House Inn in Woodbury.
The inn, which is owned by siblings TJ and Chris Hadisty and was built before 1736, was falling apart--both literally and figuratively--before the hit reality show arrived on the scene in May 2013.
Ramsay recommended new linens and paint to start, a presence on reservation websites like TripAdvisor and an update on the inn's restaurant's menu.
The hotel's executive chef, Mike Trudeau, was appreciative that Ramsay gave him some new takes on old recipes: "We've served the same pot roast forever he brought in this braised boneless short rib it's a much better product."
However, not all of Ramsay's recommendations worked for the brothers. They say they brought back some classics that Ramsay recommended be taken away to keep local customers happy.
As the fall season approaches the Hardisty brothers expect business will be booming, and appearing on a hit reality TV show certainly won't hurt.
