The executive director of ACLU Connecticut is leaving to take a leadership position in a LGBT rights organization in West Virginia.

Andrew Schneider, who has led the organization since 2007, will be taking the job as executive director of Fairness West Virginia, an organization that advocates for LGBT rights in the state.

In a press release, the president of the ACLU CT, Andy Schatz, said, “Our many successes under Andrew’s leadership have included abolishing the death penalty, establishing marriage equality, outlawing discrimination against transgender people, and protecting against racial profiling, abusive use of technology and misuse of Tasers by police.
