State Police Cruiser Hit; Trooper Suffered Minor Injuries

UPDATE: Trooper Donald Dunning sustained minor injuries to his head and neck in the accident. He was taken to Middlesex Hospital, where he was treated and released.

The operator, Geoffrey T. Weaving, 42, was travelling northbound in the right lane when he veered into the closed off left lane and hit Trooper Dunning’s car, which was parked in the closed off lane with the emergency lights activated. Weaving did not suffer any injuries, and he was found to be at fault for the accident.

Charges are pending as the accident is investigated. Both vehicles were heavily damaged

A vehicle hit a Connecticut State Police cruiser in Higganum Friday morning and the trooper was being evaluated for injuries.

The left lane is closed to traffic. The call came in at 10:25 a.m.

The accident happened on Route 9 between exits 9 and 10.
