House Fire in New Haven Displaces 8 People

Eight people are displaced after a house fire in New Haven this afternoon.

Around 2:45pm firefighters responded to a home on Cedar Hill Avenue on a report of smoke on the first floor. When crews arrived they found smoke and flames on the first and second floors of the home. Firefighters were able to contain the fire immediately.

Electrical service was cut to the home due to exposed wires. Its not clear if the family will be able to return,  fire officials said.

According to New Haven Battalion Chief Miguel Rosado, one firefighter was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for heat exhaustion and is listed in stable condition.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, the scene is under Arson investigation.
