Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Amtrak Train in Fairfield

Fewer Trains Operating As New Haven Line Repairs Continue

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Amtrak train in Fairfield Saturday afternoon according to Fairfield Police.

The incident happened around 6:20pm at the Fairfield train station according to an Amtrak spokesperson. The train involved was operating from Newport News, Virginia bound for Boston with 185 passengers on board at the time, none of the passengers or crew were injured.

According to the spokesperson the train was delayed for two hours as Metro North detectives investigated the scene.

Fairfield police say the victim’s identity has not been released at this time but described him as a Caucasian male in his 50’s.
