The trial of former Governor John Rowland adjourned Wednesday after the defense rested.

Closing arguments will begin Thursday morning. Each side will get 90 minutes to present their arguments.

After that, the jury will get instructions from the judge and start their deliberations.

The Defense has been trying to show the jury that John Roland did legitimate work for the Foley's nursing home chain, Apple Rehab, not giving political advice from behind a curtain.

On Tuesday, with the jury out of the court room, the lawyers were arguing about what the jury should and should not be allowed to hear -- from Apple Rehab executive Brian Bedard.

The defense began their case Monday -- called Bedard -- who was their first and last witness.

But the judge on the case ruled that much of Bedard's testimony will never make it to the jury.

The prosecution saying the defense was trying to ambush the trial -- calling the defense's strategy an act of desperation.  And the judge concurring with that.
