Not All Local Scots Would Have Toasted To Independence From The UK

The referendum on independence in Scotland had far-reaching implications across the pond, including in Connecticut.

Local Scottish-Americans, like the Scots themselves, were divided on their opinion of the possible separation from the United Kingdom.

East Hartford's Olde Burnside Brewing Company puts Scottish pride in every bottle of its Ten Penny Ale. However, the owner, Bob McClellan, is not one to toast independence from the U.K.

"Me, I'm a kind of a 'if it's not broke don't fix it' kind of guy," McClellan said.  "What they're doing now is basically they're going to be reinventing the wheel, I think."
