It's hard to watch television these days and not see attack ad after attack ad, which just shows how dirty the gubernatorial race in Connecticut is getting.
Wesleyan Media Project crunched the numbers and found that Connecticut has the third least positive gubernatorial race in the nation. Only Wisconsin and New York have races with more negative and fewer positive ads.
In Connecticut, ads for the gubernatorial race that ran between Sept. 12 and Sept. 25 were positive 8.3 percent of the time and negative 65.7 percent of the time. The final 26 percent were contrast ads, which start by saying something negative about an opponent but then compare it to something positive about the ad's own candidate.
It's not surprising that this is the case; in the last gubernatorial race in 2010 the results were nail-bitingly close--Gov. Dan Malloy only beat his Republican opponent, Tom Foley, by about 6,500 votes. Now, four years later, the two are battling again.
