This winter, you may want to wait a couple extra minutes to have that hot chocolate after you get done shoveling. Researchers in Essex County, England, found that drinking something hot after coming in from the cold may cause cracks in the surface of the teeth. They said that sudden temperature changes put a lot of stress on tooth enamel.

Adding pro-biotics to your diet may benefit more than just your digestive tract. Canadian researchers have found evidence that pro-biotics can protect children and pregnant women from poisoning from heavy metals like mercury and arsenic. They said the protective effect of the pro-biotic in expectant mothers could result in healthier births.

Pay close attention to the labels if you're looking for foods that are free of genetically modified ingredients.  According to a recent study, foods labeled "GMO free" and "organic" were true for the most part, but that wasn't the case for foods labeled "natural." The study found that virtually all foods labeled natural contained genetically modified ingredients because most of them contain corn, wheat and soy products, which have been widely modified to yield more crop and be disease resistant.
