Hillhouse High celebrates groundbreaking for new facility

NEW HAVEN - Students, parents and officials gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking for the new Bowen Field on Monday.

Mayor Toni Harp,  was joined by U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro was joined by other elected officials. The ceremonies  featured performances by the Hillhouse marching band, color guard and cheerleaders.

Bowen Field, located next to Hillhouse High School, will undergo a complete renovation and will be ready next fall.

 The state awarded  New Haven a $4.8 million grant for the project. The total cost is $12 million most of that funded by state school construction grants.
