WATERTOWN – Four teens are now in a juvenile detention center after police say they are responsible for stealing vehicles, stealing from cars, fleeing the seen, and crashing into a Watertown police cruiser, injuring the Sergeant.

Police say the incident happened around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20. Police responded to Georgetown Drive after reports of suspicious people in the area breaking into cars. When police arrived, they say, a group of people ran away, some getting away in a BMW that had been stolen earlier in the night.

The suspects ran a red light at the intersection of Bunker Hill Road and Straits Turnpike, striking a police SUV driven by Sergeant Ciarleglio. Both vehicles were totaled and the suspect ran away.

Waterbury police investigated the case along with Juvenile probation offices and arrested a 14-year-old, a 15-year-old and two 17-year-olds.
