HAMDEN – A Hamden High School student was taken into custody Friday morning after a student thought another student had a gun.
Around 9:35 a.m., a student told a teacher he thought he spotted another student with a gun. The teacher contacted security and the principal.
Less than 5 minutes later, the principal and security found the student in the lunch room.
The student, who is a 15-year-old ninth grader, was carrying a Colt Defender CO2-powered bb gun in his backpack. That student was taken into custodyand is being charged with carrying a dangerous weapon and breach of peace. He will appear in New Haven’s juvenile court, but was released into his mother’s custody.
A call was sent to parents about the incident early Friday afternoon.
