BRIDGEPORT–Bridgeport Police say they’ve arrested three brothers in the stabbing death of a man on Seeley Street on Oct. 18.

Jesus “BeBe” Ortiz, 23, Jhonathan “Scarface” Ortiz-LaPorte, 25, and Jose Ortiz, 26, all of 83 Seeley St. in Bridgeport, are being charged with murder, conspiracy and other charges.

On Oct. 18 Ivan Rodriguez-Mendez, 51, was found fatally stabbed outside the 83 Seeley St. multi-family home that the suspects and victim lived in. Investigators say the brothers went to the third-floor apartment where Rodriguez-Mendez lived, but the victim wasn’t home. Witnesses say there was a confrontation inside, and a victim who was in the apartment was cut on the arm.

The brothers then allegedly ran downstairs and witnesses soon heard gunfire. The victim was found a short time later, and an autopsy confirms he died of blood loss from a stab wound on his leg.

Witnesses and Jose Ortiz’s phone, which was found at the scene, helped lead to the arrest of the brothers.
