NEW HAVEN--Not all people in line got the chance to vote at New Haven City Hall Tuesday night, officials told Fox CT.

Anyone not registered to vote by 8 p.m. was turned away, in accordance with the laws regarding Election Day Registration. According to the Associated Press, about 100 would-be voters were denied.

At 7:30 p.m., Officials announced to those in line that most people will not get the chance to cast a ballot. Some people who did vote waited for more than three hours to register and cast their ballot.

"We didn't expect that we would have nearly a thousand people here and so I think had we known, we would have had more staff," said New Haven Mayor Toni Harp.

Food and a choir was provided to appease those waiting in line.

This specific location was one of the designated places for Election Day Registration.
