Nappier wins reelection as state treasurer

According to the Secretary of the State’s Office, there will be no recount in the treasurer’s race because the final tally will have incumbent Denise Nappier up by at least 10,000 votes. Nappier, a Democrat, sent out a statement just after 3:30 p.m. announcing her victory, but no official vote total has been reported yet.

Here is Nappier’s statement:

“Yesterday’s election was a hard-fought battle on so many fronts, and the real victory belongs to the Connecticut voters who exercised their right and privilege to vote. I am deeply grateful to the people of our state for their support, and for the incredible energy of so many volunteers who worked hard to get out the vote.

It was a spirited campaign, and the issues facing Connecticut require that we all commit that same vigor to ensuring our continued progress on the path forward.“
