MANSFIELD–A 22-year-old man has been arrested for having sexual contact with three 17-year-old girls.
Geoffrey Gillette, of Coventry, was arrested on Oct. 28 and charged with three counts of risk of injury to a child and three counts of sexual assault in the second degree–or statutory rape–which means there was consent and no force or threat.
According to the Hartford Courant, Gillette is a former assistant teacher at E.O. Smith High School and the three victims were female students of his. The Courant reports that Gillette resigned in May after the school’s principal confronted him about an inappropriate video posted on a social media page.
Although the age of consent in Connecticut is 16, it is illegal for a school employee to have sexual contact with a student.
Bond was set at $50,000, and he’s due in court on Nov. 17.
In October, a soccer coach at E.O. Smith High School was arrested for sending improper videos to teenage students via Snapchat. Jeffrey Sirois, 57, was charged with impairing the morales of a minor, two counts of obscenity and two counts of breach of peace in the second degree.
