WEST HARTFORD–The West Hartford Police Department says it arrested a woman after she hit a bicylcist with her car.

Cynthia Simpson, 67, of West Hartford, was driving north on North Main Street around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday when she turned right onto Fern Street. While making the turn she drove over the yellow lines and hit Nathan Nokes, 29, of Vancouver, Washington, who was on his bike in the left lane.

Nokes flew over the hood of Simpson’s 2012 Honda Fit before falling to the ground. His bike was damaged, and he complained of soreness but refused medical help. Simpson’s car was damaged on the front end and hood.

Simpson blew a .094 and later a .091 blood alcohol content. She was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to drive in a proper lane. She was released on a non-surety bond.
