Not getting text messages from your friends? Apple has a fix for former iPhone users

If you’ve ever switched from an iPhone to one of the many other smartphone options, you may have noticed a problem with your text messages.

Some users may feel excommunicated from their friends because they suddenly stop receiving all text messages from other iPhone users. Apple now has a fix for that.

The problem lies with Apple’s iMessage system. For years, former iPhone users have reported that they weren’t getting text messages from friends. That’s because Apple was still routing those messages through iMessage, which only works between two iPhones. Text messages are sent using the phone’s data network or Wifi instead of through traditional SMS.

Apple has released a new tool to “deregister” a phone number from iMessage. Now if you decide to leave iPhone nation and buy a different phone, this will be a necessary step to receive all of your text messages.

Visit Apple’s deregister page here.

When I originally left a comment I appear to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and from now on each
time a comment is added I get four emails with the exact same comment.

Perhaps there is a means you are able to remove
me from that service? Appreciate it!
