The Connecticut Department of Public Health reports cases of influenza have been seen since August, but the agency saw activity increase in October.

State health officials say the predominant flu strand popping up is Type A, which is covered by flu shots this year.

The latest flu report from the DPH shows there were 75 positive influenza cases in Connecticut. Seven of eight counties have seen cases of the flu. The most cases so far have been in New Haven Country, where 38 cases were confirmed.

There are no flu-related deaths reported yet this season.

State health officials tell us flu activity commonly peaks between January and March.
