HARTFORD - A number of local companies are looking to hire our nations heroes.

One of those companies is Hemingway's Distribution in Hartford.

Owner, Alan Hemingway, said the skills and training the veterans provide are invaluable.

The company employs 22 individuals, three of whom are veterans.

The company is looking to grow both of those numbers.

Hemingway's Distribution delivers for six farms to grocery stores.

It mostly distributes local products like the popular Farmer's Cow brand milk and eggs.

Over the past several years it has grown from having one truck to 10 trucks delivering to Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York.

Alan Hemingway credits the company's success in part to the veterans on staff said they are  precise and always follow protocol.

That is why the company is looking to hire more heroes.

Other companies like Flanagan Industries out of Glastonbury and Ensign-Bickford Aerospace and Defense out of Simsbury are also looking to fill their staff with more veterans.
