The votes are in and The Big Bang Theory, along with the Lego Birds Project, are the big winners! The winners of what, you may ask?
The latest Lego review period featured six Lego Ideas projects that reached over 10,000 supporters between January and June, including Modular Apple Store, Back to the Future, Jules Verne train, and two Doctor Who projects, in addition to the two winners. The Lego review process , according to Peter Espersen of Lego Ideas, involves submitting an idea and gathering support. After hitting 10,000 votes, submissions enter the Lego review process where their potential to become an official Lego set is evaluated by set designers and marketing and business representatives. Votes are analyzed, along with detailed project information and evaluated based on set play-ability, safety, and the overall Lego brand.
The TBBT set was created by Lego Ideas members Alatariel and collaborater GlenBricker. “This Lego set will be a true match made in scientific heaven (well, actually in acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), because the brilliant characters in this popular American TV show appreciate Lego bricks,” Espersen wrote in his Lego Ideas blog post.
Lego is still working on final design, pricing, and release dates for these Lego sets, but one thing is for sure, The Big Bang Theory will have its very own official Lego set within the next couple of years!
